Hello.
We filed for bankruptcy in 2008 and every time we apply for credit cards, we still get declined. When exactly can we start fresh?

Hello,
A record of your bankruptcy stays on your credit file for 7 years from the date of bankruptcy (14 years from the date of bankruptcy is you have filed bankruptcy previously). This is why you are being declined.
You should apply for a secured credit card. You will need to provide to the credit card company a security deposit (most require a $500 deposit) and a copy of your Certificate of Discharge (or Order of Discharge if you had to attend bankruptcy court to get your discharge).
